Daryl Shail | Owner, Executive Producer
Daryl Shail is a Toronto-based Matchmove Supervisor, Editor, Photographer, Trainer and Consultant. His diverse background includes forensic image analysis and enhancement, crime scene reconstruction, film restoration, editorial, motion graphics, visual effects, and senior management roles within international software development firms. Daryl's creativity, methodical approach toward problem solving, and matchmoving acumen has been garnered through years of real-world experience. He has lectured on the topics of camera tracking, film restoration and forensic image analysis, developed training material for software vendors and mentored many of the visual effects community's young, up and coming artists. Daryl has been qualified by the Supreme Court of Canada as an expert in forensic image analysis, restoration and enhancement, and continuity of video evidence, and has testified on several high profile court proceedings over the years.
In addition to his leadership role at Monster Matchmoves, Daryl currently holds the title of VFX Product Manager at The Pixel Farm Ltd. and is responsible for the ongoing development, marketing, training and sales strategies of PFTrack and PFMatchit. Many of the production challenges Monster Matchmoves encounters result in new tool development in PFTrack, allowing The Pixel Farm to maintain significant innovation and technology leads over other software developement firms.
